PLANNING YOUR DAY


The following are guidelines for helping you plan your day for this mini-conference. While all sessions focus on a foundation of critical thinking, connecting, collaborating, creating, and contributing, the topics vary in both breadth and depth so the following guidelines are here to help you make the best selection possible.

3. Click Registration (under The Program on left) to enroll in sessions -- remember that sessions are limited so sign-up early!

Types of Sessions


Keynote Breakout
The keynote speaker will apply the framework into an actionable item during this session. It occurs directly after the keynote and asks the participants to be ready to engage the ideas from the keynote into instructional practices. The Keynote Breakout occurs only once during the mini-conference.

Spotlight Speakers
These 60 minute sessions are done by presenters from outside of Glenbrook North based upon their expertise in a chosen area. These experts will provide an interactive approach to learning about areas of interests for the GBN based upon past and ongoing professional development topics. Spotlight speakers will hold sessions throughout the day on the same topic with slight variations in content.

Hands-On Workshops
Hands-on workshops are two-hour presentations for 20-30 participants held in one of our computer labs. Topics vary but participants can expect to be very interactive in the production Each Hands-on Workshop occurs only one time so it is important to note that if you find a Workshop of interest, be sure to attend during that time because it will not take place the rest of the day.

General Sessions

These sessions are done by Glenbrook North High School faculty for a classroom size audience. General Sessions are one-hour in length and the presentation formats vary: demonstrations, discussions, and lectures. These may target a certain audience or user level so refer to the session description to ensure best selection. Each General Session occurs only one time so it is important to note that if you find a General Session of interest, be sure to attend during that time because it will not take place the rest of the day.

Round Table Presentation
This 60 minute session is focused on a wide-open discussion for up to 30 participants. The speaker will act as the facilitator and guide the participants in an intense discussion based upon key ideas for Glenbrook North and District 225. The Round Table Presentation only occurs during one Breakout Session

Panel Presentation
The panel presentation is a group-based presentation and Q&A forum that can accommodate a large audience. The Panel Presentation only occurs during one Breakout Session.
